Singleton Livestock Exchange will receive a $4million upgrade if the Coalition Government wins the May 3 Federal Election.

Nationals candidate for the election, Sue Gilroy, announced the funding at the venue this afternoon.  Singleton Council will add a further $500,000 that will see $4.5 million spent on new livestock weighing and processing facilities, modern holding yards, improved vehicle access and parking, upgraded loading ramps and most importantly, a new administration building.

The admin building has been closed for a couple of years after the discovery of asbestos with saleyard staff working from demountable buildings since.

Sue Gilroy said the project is vital and will strengthen the region’s agricultural economy and deliver long-term benefits for the community.

Mayor Sue Moore welcomed the announcement she says recognises the importance of the district’s agricultural community and economy.

The saleyards, located at Redbournberry, sees around $40million in stock sales annually.
