Crochet and knitting have been part of Noeleen Bendeich’s life for as long as she can remember and ribbons at Singleton Show are just par for the course.

Her daughter, Roslyn Shearer, is the show secretary so of course she has to support the event.  Last year Noeleen took out most successful exhibitor in the handicraft section.

This year she had a crocheted rug, a teddy bear, some very fine crochet table sets, toddler cardigans, baby sets and even ventured out and made an appliqued apron but none will see the display cabinets at this year’s Singleton Show.

Noeleen enjoys preparing for the event and says her creations also make their way to the CWA handicraft competition which has a state final each year.  This year, attending the conference had been on Noeleen’s to do list as it was to be held in Newcastle but did not go ahead.

“Newcastle was so close so I could attend but next year it is in Bega, it’s an eight hour drive so I don’t see myself getting there,” Noeleen said.

Meanwhile, it will be Noeleen’s grand children and great grandchildren who will get to enjoy her work.
