There will be a notable absence this finals series.
While the Singleton Roosters look to welcome back names such as reigning Davey medal winner Andrew Scott, Sam Brasington and Luke Draper they will be without Cameron Saunders.
The 17-year-old, who has played 13 senior games since 2019, was hospitalised on Friday night following a motorcycle accident in Muswellbrook.
“I have a broken ankle and all the toes on my right foot have been amputated,” Saunders told The Hunter River Times on Tuesday.
He has had three surgeries so far this week.
“He is a great loss to our group, but his recovery is more important at this time,” senior vice president Sam Howard said.
“The boys signed a team jumper for him on Tuesday night and, even though we have a final to prepare for, he is obviously still in our thoughts.”
