Cessnock City Council invites the community to dive into a day of fun and relaxation with free all-day entry to local pools on Saturday 30 November 2024. This special event promises a refreshing escape from the heat, while fostering community connections and promoting water safety.

Accessible recreational activities are vital for a healthy, vibrant community, and this initiative not only provides a perfect way to cool off during the warmer seasons, but also promotes water safety and a sun-smart approach for a healthy, enjoyable day at the pool.

Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton expressed his excitement in offering this much-loved event to local residents once again.

“Free pool access days have become a tradition in our community, and it’s a wonderful way for residents to cool off, socialise, and stay active during the hotter months.” said Clr Watton.

“We’re so pleased to be able to provide these services free of charge a couple of times a year for all our residents to enjoy!”

Aquatic Facilities Coordinator, Chad McCamley says the initiative aligns with Council’s commitment to water safety, promoting the importance of vigilance and responsible behaviour around the water.

“We want everyone to have a great time but also be mindful of water safety. It’s a day to enjoy, but it’s crucial that parents and guardians closely supervise their children to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone,” said Mr McCamley.

“Also remember to practice the ‘slip, slop, slap’ approach to sun protection and shield yourself from harmful UV rays.”

Council recommends staying well-hydrated throughout the day and adhering to pool rules for a day that is not only fun, but also safe.

The free entry day is being held at Cessnock Pool, Branxton Pool and Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre. Standard weekend opening hours apply. For more information visit: https://www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/Things-to-do/Public-swimming-pools
