Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Golden Highway at Mudies Creek, Whittingham from early February as part of major upgrade work.
Transport for NSW is upgrading the Golden Highway at Mudies Creek to improve flood immunity.
Major work involves building a new 28-metre-long bridge across Mudies Creek that will be five metres higher than the existing road level and designed to withstand a one-in-100-year flood event.
To carry out this work safely, the Golden Highway between the New England Highway and Range Road will be closed in both directions for two weekends to ensure the safety of workers and motorists.
The first closure will be from 7pm Friday 6 February to 4am Monday 9 February, then from 7pm Friday 13 February to 4am Monday 16 February, weather permitting.
If work is unable to be completed on these dates, a contingency weekend has been arranged for work to be carried out from 7pm Friday 20 February to 4am Monday 23 February.
This will allow us to place temporary barriers and traffic control signage to carry out asphalt and line marking work.
During the closures, light vehicle traffic will be detoured via Range Road, with an expected additional travel time of around 10 minutes.
All heavy vehicles are to remain on the Golden Hwy and will be accommodated through the worksite under traffic control. Local resident access will be maintained, and traffic control will help pedestrians and cyclists through the work area.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place and live updates will be available on Live Traffic NSW.
Please note, vehicles travelling under a Permit and Notice MUST NOT travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
