Bureen Cattle Company travelled by truck to the Brisbane Ekka and while the truck may have been much lighter on the way home, the smiles were far more broader.

The property, at Martindale, came home with ribbons that represent the quality of the cattle being bred and raised on the property.

Bureen Cattle Company R & W Lawrence was the winner of class 4 and middle weight champion led steer.

Carcass results included first place and middle weight champion.

Bureen Cattle Company  T & P Worth was the  class 4 virtual taste test winner.

The company also had Charolais steers in the Ken McDonald shield that placed third over all.

Travis and Phoebe Worth have been in partnership with Anthony and Jodie Green for about three years and Travis has been showing steers at this most prestigious Australian competition for about 10 years.

They took five steers up to Brisbane and were delighted with the results.

Travis said the results were up there with as good as they have had in the past and said the competition was an avenue to ensure their breeding is on the right path.

“It is also an opportunity to sell a few bulls and to promote our product in what is the largest and best steer competition in Australia,” Travis said.

You may recognise Phoebe Worth from the photograph, far more recognisable as Phoebe Desmond, known for her athleticism on the womens rugby league field, representing Newcastle Knights and the Country Womens team.

Comparing the competition, Phoebe said both brought great excitement and satisfaction.

“It really was fantastic hearing the results, it was obviously nice to see the team recognised for their efforts and hard work,” Phoebe said after her first EKKA experience. St Joseph’s High School Aberdeen also had top results.
