Police have charged four people after an alleged pursuit in a stolen vehicle near Cessnock.
A vehicle was stopped for an RBT on Cessnock Road at Neath on Monday evening – the driver briefly stopped before allegedly driving from the scene and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued to Cessnock where all the occupants stopped and made a run for it on foot.
Three teenage boys, aged 15, 16 and 17 were arrested nearby as well as a 24-year-old man. All four were taken to Cessnock Police Station.
The 17-year-old driver was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence, and police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously. He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court next week.
The 15-year-old passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 23 September 2025.
The 24-year-old passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was granted conditional bail to appear before Cessnock Local Court at a later date.
The 16-year-old boy was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
