Muswellbrook Shire residents have the opportunity to be prepared and obtain access to practical information and assistance regarding recent earthquake activity at a free workshop in either Muswellbrook or Denman this week.
In responding to community concerns, Council has joined forces with the NSW Reconstruction Authority to present two workshops to help residents prepare for future natural events and provide direct evidence-based information on recent earthquakes felt throughout the Shire.
The workshops will be facilitated by the NSW Reconstruction Authority with information booths to be manned by representatives from combat agencies including Local Emergency Management Committee members, NSW Police Region Emergency Management officers, SES, NSW Fire and Rescue and Geoscience Australia.
The workshops are on:
- Tuesday 17 September 4pm-6pm – Denman Memorial Hall, Ogilvie St, Denman
- Wednesday 18 September 4pm-6pm – Stan Thiess Centre, Victoria Park, Muswellbrook
Council’s General Manager Derek Finnigan said the workshops are designed to provide information and practical suggestions to residents and answer any questions resulting from the recent earthquake activity.
“Emergencies and natural disasters can happen anywhere, at any time, and often leave significant and long-term impacts. By attending these workshops, the community have the opportunity to be better prepared and reassured, and I encourage all who are able to attend. No appointment required – just drop in between 4pm and 6pm on Tuesday or Wednesday,” he said.
The NSW Reconstruction Authority is tasked with reducing the impact of future disasters across NSW and help communities affected by natural disasters to recover. Find more information here.
