The Muswellbrook Rams will host a fundraiser for their player Wade Mckenzie to help with his recovery costs after an incident that left him in hospital in a critical condition.

Wade remains in the John Hunter Hospital undergoing treatment after being knocked out during the Rams Group 21 Rugby League game last Sunday afternoon.

He was placed in an induced coma, and the Club said in a statement yesterday that he is making “positive progress”.

The Rams will hold a fundraiser at Muswellbrook Golf Club on Friday June 7 with raffles, meat trays, vouchers, fruit and vegetable boxes, an auction and 100 clubs with all the prizes having been donated to the fundraiser by local businesses. There will also be live music from local band Kyda Rock.

“Following on from yesterdays update on Wade, we will be holding our first fundraiser to raise money for Wade and his family, to help cover all medical and other expenses so far, and throughout Wade’s recovery that is yet to come.

“If you cannot be in attendance, you can still make a financial contribution by direct debiting into the fundraising account we have opened for Wade. Please reference your name, so Wade and his family are able to see who has supported them on this journey. We opted for this rather than a go fund me page, so Wade receives the full amount donated to him.”
