Muswellbrook is set to enjoy an almost $20 million boost should a Liberals Nationals Government retain the seat of Upper Hunter.

Backing for two projects was pledged last week, the first being an additional $9million for the Denman to Sandy Hollow pipeline, delivering useable water to the community.

“If this pipeline does take off it’s going to make a hell of a difference to Sandy hollow residents,” James Cowan from the Tourist Hotel Sandy Hollow said at the announcement.

“There is plenty of expansion wanting to go on around Sandy Hollow but the water is always a hurdle and if we get a permanent supply Sandy Hollow will go ahead.”

This funding is in addition to the $19million already set aside for the major works but is needed due to increases in costs for completion.

The connection between the Muswellbrook CBD and Bypass, via Coal Road, will also be funded should Dave Layzell get the most votes this weekend.

“The bypass link road is extremely welcome news to Council and the community,” acting general manager Derek Finnigan said.

“Not only will it provide enhanced connectivity to our industrial areas, but also to our emergency services areas such as Edinglassie Rural Fire Service, the State Emergency Service precinct and critically importantly, the Muswellbrook hospital. We were really looking forward to working with our partners to ensure that the link road is very high standard.”
