Singleton Mountain Bike Club returned to the rugged and flowy single track of Pioneer MTB Park for Round 4 of the 2025 XC Series.

Riders were greeted with sunny, cool, dry conditions and a course that offered fast rolling jump sections, punchy climbs, and tight technical corners with a solid turnout across all categories from seasoned A Graders to the enthusiastic juniors.

The day was a true celebration of grassroots mountain biking.

A Grade

The A Grade Men’s race was a tight contest from the outset, with Michael Cameron putting on a consistent and measured performance to claim the top spot over five fast-paced laps. He was closely followed by Scott Campbell and Matthew Johns, both keeping the pressure on throughout but ultimately settling for second and third respectively. Rodney Rae rounded out the field after pushing through a tough fourth lap that tested both legs and grit. In the Women’s A Grade, Ingrid Shaw took the win with a strong three-lap effort, steadily building pace across her race and holding a commanding presence on the course.

B Grade

B Grade Men saw a deep field and close racing across all positions. Lincoln Johns held his nerve to take the win by just seconds, ahead of Dustin Rooks and Ryan Weber, both of whom rode strongly and consistently over five laps. The midfield was tightly contested, with all riders churning out great lap times and several riders trading positions throughout the race.

C Grade

In C Grade Men, Declan Northcott took the win over four laps with a composed ride, fending off efforts from Callan Johns and Jason Deaves who kept things close through the mid-race stages. In the women’s field, Simone Steele continued her strong season form with a three-lap victory, and Kuba Mccormack backed it up with a solid second place over two lapsD Grade

D Grade

Riders took on the course with enthusiasm and plenty of determination. Jordan Trevor came out on top in the men’s field with a consistent four-lap performance, Jason Rose finished second, just getting his 4 laps done in time, and Jonathon Davies placed third with 3 laps. Regretfully, we made an error when calling up the D grade men podium and omitted Jonathon from his rightful place of third, our sincerest apologies Jonathon! While Zoe Ross led the women’s field, completing three laps with smooth, steady pacing. Evie Johns completed 2 laps for second place.

E-Bike

E-bike riders joined the mix once again, with Jace Wild leading the men’s field after five strong laps. Michael Roycroft finished just one lap short but displayed great speed early in the race. Ashleigh Johns topped the women’s E-bike division with a confident three-lap ride, navigating the climbs and descents with power and control.

Kids Race

The kids’ field was full of energy and excitement, with 15 young riders tackling multiple laps of a shortened course. Wylie Smith was the fastest boy across eight laps, while Aberny Sorraghan took out the girls’ division with a strong ride. The junior racers showcased great skill, resilience, and sportsmanship—offering a promising glimpse into the future of the club and cross-country MTB racing.

With two more rounds planned for this year, the competition is heating up, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone again at Round 5, planned for 24th of August at Pioneer MTB Park. And remember, our next club committee meeting is the 4th of August, as usual, the 1st Monday of the month, 7pm at Club Dorsman. See you there.
