Things may look a little different for the 2025 Acorp Muswellbrook Gold Cup Race Meeting, but rest assured it is still sure to be a great day out.

Due to ongoing renovations in Silks Function Centre the Muswellbrook Race Club team have had to get creative about accommodating everyone according to general manager Christine Williams.

“Since we moved out of the building, we’ve had our VIPs in the betting ring, we did that on tradies day and that was a huge success, to the point that we actually ran our gold sponsors draw in the betting ring under lights and that was really fun,” she shared.

“The industry participants and the admin are in demountables in the Racecourse Road car park.

“Our pavilion, where we would normally have people having grazing platters is where the Sky channel will broadcast from, it’s where the trainers will pick up the saddles and saddle cloths, it’s where the jockeys weigh out.”

It would not be a cup day without a bit of glam- and The Chop Shop Butchery Fashions on the Field aims to inspire attendees to dress to the nines and try their luck at a share of the $3,500 in cash prizes on offer.

There are five categories; ladies contemporary racewear, ladies classic racewear, millinery racewear, Mr Fashionable, and best dressed couple.

Entertainment for the day will be Two Ends Duo which will see Australian Idol contestant Nikisha Priest pair up with local Shyanne Irwin to keep everyone dancing the day away.

While the entry lists won’t be finalised for the eight races until Wednesday, the track crew are busy making sure they have the best possible stage to put on a show.

“We had races last Friday and the track was the best it’s been, in my opinion, since I’ve been here, Dominic Cooper, our track manager, is just working tirelessly to ensure that it is it is right,” Christine said.

With the winner of the Acorp Muswellbrook Gold Cup taking home $150,000, and eligibility into the Big Dance that will run at Randwick in November, it is set to attract some top tier competition.

Gates will open at 11.30am on Friday March 28 and the first race will run at 1.10pm, and admission tickets are available on the Race Club’s website.

Hospitality packages can still be booked up until Monday March 24, unless sold out prior, jump on muswellbrookraceclub.com.au to book.
