Aaron Moon (Beautiful People)

While enduring lockdown during term two there is no denying our local educators were put under a great deal of pressure, so for this editions Beautiful People we chose one who went the extra mile.

St James Primary School in Muswellbrook principal Aaron Moon is not afraid to stand out – and during the lockdown he seemingly got just a bit louder.

Each week Mr Moon could be seen out greeting the students still attending school in a range of costumes that brought smiles to faces of those around him.

“I think it was important that they knew we were all in it together and we wanted to make sure the felt safe and secure, so we made it light and cheery and had a lot of fun along the way,” he said.

When quizzed about his outfits that included wigs and hats of all styles, he took advantage of what he had at his disposal.

“I’ve got four kids so I raided the toy box,” Mr Moon laughed.

His efforts to help keep student spirits up lead to a cut-out of his photo being used at the NRL when games resumed without crowds, which students enjoyed trying to spot.

With the covid situation continuing to change in the region, Mr Moon said life at St James’ is going okay, but reminds the community to be vigilant.

“We just need to make sure we are all on high alert just to make sure, and that we are sensible and if we are sick we stay at home – all of us.”
