Colbert collects Smith Trophy

The Upper Hunter Veterans commemorated their former president George T. Smith with the running of the inaugural George T. Smith Trophy event at Aberdeen Golf Club last week.

A total of 32 players featured in the event with including special guests Stephen and Greg Smith (George’s sons) and Betty Smith (George’s wife).

The winner with nett 68 was Albert Colbert, 2nd Ross Banks 71, 3rd Bruce Robinson 74 C/B, 4th Des Partridge C/B 74 and 5th Terry Mitchell 74 C/B.

Balls went to Greg Smith and President Paul Gorman 74, Doug Dowell, Reg Davidson and Lindsay Hodge 75 and on 76 Gary Gray, John Belfield and Graham Boles.

The Bradman’s trophy, kindly donated by Gary Morley was won by Graham Turvey.

Ross Banks finished with the best scratch score (78).

The putting wine, kindly donated by Aberdeen Recreations Club, was won by Emil Battista with 27 putts.
