Muswellbrook swimmers make a splash

There is no aquatic rivalry between Muswellbrook and Singleton.

Muswellbrook Swimming Club president Matthew Jeans has praised the Singleton Swim and Gym for allowing his junior members to swim under Singleton coach Melisa Geale in recent weeks.

Three times per week a bus of 15 to 20 members will travel down from Muswellbrook to utilise their neighbouring town’s facilities.

“We were aware that the renovations were coming but that reality came as soon as our pool was shutting down,” Jeans explained.

“Impacted by Covid as well, we had to abandon our season but then in August we had the opportunity to come and swim in Singleton so we’re very lucky.”

Jeans joined the club three years ago when his children started swimming.

He was then elected as president of the club earlier this year.

“All the clubs support each other around the Upper Hunter but Muswellbrook doesn’t have a coach so this has been something that we will continue to utilise and promote,” he concluded.
