New Green Brings Bowls Back to Branxton

BY DI SNEDDON

Lawn Bowlers in the Branxton area were delighted to see a huge amount of activity at Miller Park last week with the installation of the new green.

Faye Miller, secretary of Miller Park Bowling Club Inc. (steering committee), was among those delighted to hear local bowlers could be back playing on the green in a month’s time.

Bowls ceased at the club 12 months ago with some of the regulars travelling to Greta and Singleton to enjoy the game they love.

Paperwork has been processed to re-affiliate Miller Park Bowling Club with NSW Bowls and a lot of work has gone to secure equipment.

“We thank Singleton RSL for donating some bowls and a Sydney Club has helped us out with other equipment but we still need a few things such as rink numbers,” Faye told The Hunter River Times.

She says they competition will include social bowls and they will conduct competitions and championships and will organise a team to compete in the pennants competition.

“We hope that our green will be utilised in district competitions and just want to get it out there that we are back,” she added.
