Cream of the Crop at Angus Sale
For 32 years the Hunter Valley Angus Breeders Association have been hosting an annual sale in May, and this year will be no different.
Speaking with president Stephen Garland he shared that the stock at the event is well scrutinised and held to a high standard, something they take pride in.
“The sale has always been known for really good cattle and we trust it will continue in the same light for years to come,” he said.
‘It is one of the only sales where we have a selection committee, the cattle have to pass the inspectors before they make it into the sale even if they are booked in.”
2020 is the only sale in their history that the Association has missed, and that was because of covid, but despite drought being in our recent memory this year’s stock is set to be just as high quality.
“Stock should be really good, we’ve had two years of bounty season with plenty of rainfall and feed, the cattle should present in a like manner,” Stephen said.
There will be cows and calves, wieners, PTIC cows and heifers, with somewhere in the vicinity of 700 head up for sale on the day.
Across the four categories at the sale, the purchaser of the highest price pen will receive a $500 dividend back from the Hunter Valley Angus Breeders Association as a bit of extra incentive.

The Hunter Valley Angus Breeders Association sale will be held on Thursday, May 26 at the Scone Sale Yards from midday.
