About 11.30am today (Friday 8 August 2025), emergency services were called to a school on King Street, Muswellbrook, following reports of an assault.
Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District were told a 16-year-old boy allegedly produced a knife after having an altercation with a 13-year-old girl.
A 15-year-old-boy who was nearby attempted to disarm the 16-year-old boy when he sustained a laceration to his finger.
The 15-year-old boy was treated at the scene before being conveyed to Muswellbrook Hospital for treatment.
The 16-year-old boy was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.
The 13-year-old girl was uninjured.
Inquiries continue.
