Ironbark Extraordinary Meeting Set

SHARE THE STORY:

Muswellbrook Shire Council will hold an Extraordinary Council Meeting next week to review the Ironbark Ridge Development Application.

In February they deferred the vote on a motion to accept the staff recommendations to approve the development that will include 76 dual occupancy dwellings, and 23 general residential lots of sizes ranging from 641m2 to 924m2.

On March 12 residents of Ironbark Ridge Estate and other concerned community members had the opportunity to meet with councillors and staff to discuss their concerns which were then sent back to the developer for consideration.

Matters raised at the community meeting included a block that was never truncated and documented as not being a corner block now proposed at the intersection of Bimberdeen and Ironbark Roads, stormwater overflowing through properties, the placement of the high-density blocks and inadequate parking that may lead to congested streets.

In their response, the developer maintains that they have met council’s requirements on all matters, even stating “We have had some of Australia’s best engineers working on the drainage and servicing plan, which has all been checked and verified by council engineers.”

The community is invited to attend this extraordinary council meeting on the matter on Tuesday, April 8 from 6pm at Muswellbrook Library. Anyone wishing to address the meeting will be required to register prior to the meeting, contact council on 6549 3700.
