Lancaster Ford has sponsored Singleton PCYC’s basketball program for 2024, allowing for the recruitment of a new basketball coach and expansion of the program.
Since 2018, Singleton PCYC has run its basketball program, currently teaching 24 children ranging from ages five through to 16 basketball skills on Monday afternoons.
Lancaster Ford’s dealer principal and director Mark Lancaster’s two children participate in the Monday program.
“Ford Australia came out this year with a basketball marketing fund that assist dealers in offering money in the community,” Mark said.
“When Ford did that, we looked at how we could use that fund and between Lancaster Ford and Ford themselves, we came to the PCYC and were able to get a sponsorship deal and grant for this year.”
The funding could not have come at a better time for the PCYC.
“I love delivering the basketball program but as I get older, it gets harder on the body,” PCYC Singleton club manager Dave Andrews.
“I was only recently struggling with the idea of how I am going to keep on going, are we going be able to get the funding to get a coach or find a volunteer.
“Then Mark started the conversation about coming onboard as a sponsor, so it’s wonderful news because it’s going to secure basketball at the PCYC for the next 12 months.”
With the sponsorship, PCYC Singleton will be able to recruit a new basketball coach, as well as expand the program and facilitate school holiday workshops.
