No one is more deserving of Life Member Honour of Singleton Strikers Football Club than Bronwyn Cox.

Bronwyn became the seventh Life Member, the first female Life Member, of the Club with the announcement coming as a shock to the tireless worker when made at the annual presentation.

“Bronwyn has been a standout and backbone of our club for many years and her tireless work has helped and shaped the club to be what it is today. No one is more deserving than Bronwyn,” said Club assistant secretary Warren Gillespie.

Warren said it gave him great privilege to present Bronwyn with her Life Membership Badge given he has had a lot to do with her over a long period.

“She is someone whose dedication, kindness, and behind-the-scenes work has made an immeasurable impact on our club,” he said.

Singleton Strikers FC (Senior) has six Life Members who have all made significant contributions to the Football Club over many years in Michael Akrill, Graeme Sheppard, Steve Koosmen, Steve Lawrence, David Andrews and Warren Gillespie.

During their long association with the Club, Bronwyn has not only represented the club in several roles but has always put the Football Club first.

Researching Bronwyn’s history, Warrant said he first came across Bronwyn’s name in the minutes in October 14 years ago and the following month she was elected to the general committee.

“Bronwyn has been part of our soccer family for many years, not just as a volunteer, but as a devoted mother of two players Jackson and Brad, always cheering from the sidelines, supporting their journeys, and in the process, supporting all of ours too.

“Her contribution to the Football Club has been nothing short of extraordinary,” Warren said.

“As our Treasurer, Bronwyn has kept the club’s finances in perfect order which is a task that’s often thankless, always essential, and far more complex than most people realise. She’s ensured that every dollar was accounted for, every decision was responsible, and that the club could grow and thrive without financial strain.

“As Canteen Coordinator, Bronwyn turned a simple food offering to raise a few dollars into a place of community and the Club’s financial heartbeat. Whether it was early mornings setting up, weekends filled with busy matchday rushes, or late evenings packing up with tired feet and a warm smile, Bronwyn was always there.

“It is safe to say Bronwyn has the best canteen in the competition if not all of Northern NSW Football, people come from far and wide just to have a Kransky Roll.

“Bronwyn has done it all. General committee member, fundraising coordinator, treasurer, Captain of the Canteen, change room cleaner, and a voice of reason and most of all, a loyal and dedicated friend and confidant to many.

“Bronwyn has done it all with grace, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the club’s success, not for recognition, but because she simply cares.”

Warren said the club had come a long way since Bronwyn first came on board and her efforts were genuinely appreciated.

Bronwyn told The Hunter River Times that she was very honoured to receive such significant recognition.

“It was a nice surprise, Bradley is 36 now and has been playing since he was six and grown through the juniors and seniors and it was something I just did as a mum,” Bronwyn said.

“I support my boys, Brad and Jack, and you never expect to receive any recognition but it is lovely to get it, they call me number seven now,” she laughed.
