Junior cricketers from across NSW gathered at Lake Macquarie last week for the Bradman Cup tournament.

The Northern Central under-16 line-up featured local duo Harry Scowen (Aberdeen) and Ashton Blake (Denman) as well as former Singleton talent Keanu Botha.

The local contingent finished fourth on the table with three wins against Newcastle (December 1), Riverina (January 4) and Western (January 7).

Blake finished with 13 wickets including an impressive 3/10 against Newcastle and Western.

Though the side lost a nail-biter to Greater Illawarra, Scowen stood tall with 48 runs.

“We both got picked in the Central Northern team playing for the Kookaburra Cup at under-14 level in 2019 but it was called off with the fires,” Blake told The Hunter River Times prior to the tournament.

“I remember we were ready to drive down (to Albury) but then we were told it was cancelled and so we have waited two years for this tournament,” Scowen added.

MEANWHILE local duo Alex Stafa (Singleton) and Jed Collins (Denman) have been representing Central Northern in the Country Colts tournament held in Bathurst this week.
