The annual presentation of Singleton Bowls Club stepped up a notch this year with a Christmas in July theme adding to the atmosphere.
About 30 bowlers, partners and friends attended the presentation luncheon and enjoyed celebrating the awards and the friendships made on the greens at Club Singleton.
Club president Tony Hassett said it was a great atmosphere and something they would hope to continue in the future.
Major trophy winners were:
Minor singles winner Martin Bock; runner up Ros Fuller.
Pairs winners D Rose, I Rose, T Andrews; runner up J Wruck, R Fuller, H Pankhurst.
Mixed pairs winners Rod Fuller, Di Rowe; runner up P Brett (deceased), K Brett.
Men’s Championship Ian Rose; runner up Rod Fuller.
Most improved Wayne Bates.
Women’s Champion Helen Pankhurst, runner up Di Rowe.
Tony says the club is very much focussed on trying to build numbers moving forward.
“We suffered through covid, we saw people retire from the game or move away so we are hoping to grow our numbers throughout the next 12 months,” Tony said.
They have started a new learn to bowl group and have already enlisted five new members through this format. This is held every Tuesday evening from 7pm, currently under lights. Anyone can turn up and learn from those more experienced players.
Friendly and social games are held for both men and women every Tuesday morning and Saturday’s competition bowls is a jackpot set up that currently stands with around $800 in prize money.
Anyone, all ages and genders, are welcome to learn more about the game and can call Tony on 0412 451 341 for more information.
