The Singleton Parkrun community has had two reasons to cheer in recent weeks.
Last month the weekly running and walking group, which congregate around Singleton’s Rose Point Park at 8am each Saturday, unveiled permanent signage marking each of the five km marks as well as the halfway spot and the northern turnaround mark.
The signage was installed on Thursday, April 20 prior to the 383rd edition held on Saturday, April 22.
Representatives from United Wambo Joint Venture (Glencore and Peabody) and Bulga Coal (Glencore), key supporters of the project, were on hand to receive applause from the community.
The following week Singleton’s Julie Bullock, mother of well-known jockey Aaron, made history by completing her 300th parkrun.
A total of 289 of these have been in Singleton, two at Fingal Bay and nine other locations while she has also volunteered on a further 53 occasions.
She joins fellow Singleton 300 club members Nick Muir (360 total, 192 in Singleton) and Wendy Tan (336 total, 257 in Singleton).
