There was plenty of pride displayed during last Friday’s Freedom of Entry ceremony in Singleton and among those most proud was Andy Ball.
Born and bred in Singleton, Andy is a member of the Australian Army Band and when he heard about the Singleton event he was quick to get involved.
Now living in Bathurst, Andy was released from his full time career in the Army in 2016 and had a five year break before returning as a reservist and again joining the band.
He says the Freedom of Entry is a prestigious event and the last time he was involved in the ceremony was in Wagga.
“When I received notification of the event in Singleton I said to myself this was one event I was not going to miss,” Andy said.
It was a proud moment for his parents, Gail and Campbell Ball, who continue to reside in Singleton.
Equally proud and quick to congratulate Andy on his Freedom of Entry involvement was Singleton Town Band member David Walker. Andy was a member of Singleton Town Band for many years and David said it was great to see Andy march and play through Singleton again that brought back many memories of past performances.
