Vietnam Veterans Day was marked with respect and acknowledgment of lasting connections made through unrest earlier this week.
Formally known as Long Tan Day, marking the Battle of Long Tan in 1966, August 18 remembers the sacrifice made by those who were lost or injured during the 10 years Australia was involved with the Vietnam War.
At the Muswellbrook service there was a special addition to formalities, with a plaque unveiled to honour two local Vietnam Veterans.
John Flood OAM and Peter Houlahan were the driving force behind the Muswellbrook Memorial Grove on Aberdeen Street.
Their inspiration, drive, determination and dedication made the project possible and they have been passionate advocates for its evolution and upkeep.
