With time on his hands after an accident and subsequent ride in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Muswellbrooks Allan Nightingale is weeks away from seeing a dream become reality.
Muscle in the Brook will be a car and bike show with something for everyone – including a mullet competition.
“This will be our inaugural event and as the idea has grown, and the community and the businesses in the Muswellbrook region have got behind it, it’s just got bigger and bigger,” Allan shared of the event that will be held on August 26 at Lake Liddell Recreation Area.
“We have added a few elements of fun, with the mullets particularly, and we’ll have some competition cars out here that are starting their engines up to give people that experience that you probably wouldn’t normally get.
“There’s a big contingent of bikes that are going to be here, Aberdeen Social Riders have been really supportive of the event, so we’re expecting a good show of bikes, everything from classic bikes to your Harley Davidsons to your British bikes to competition bikes.”
There has been interest from local car and bike owners from around the local region, as well as from further afield including Dubbo and the Central Coast.
Alongside the show and shine and mullet masters competition there will also be trade stalls, a go-kart competition, raffles, food vans and live music.
“I want it to showcase Muswellbrook, so I organized a lineup of Muswellbrook talent, we’ve got Shyanne Irwin, Mia Kalaher, The Blues River Band and Carrott and the Collective playing from midday,” Allan said.
The event will be on Saturday August 26 from 10am to 6pm at Lake Liddell Recreation area, entry is $10 per vehicle through the gate, which includes show cars and bikes, with all proceeds going to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
There will market and trade stalls, food trucks and a Muswellbrook Lions Club barbecue. To keep up to date with all the planning as it comes together, follow Muscle in the Brook on Facebook.
