Revving up for Muscle in the Brook

Muscle in the Brook organiser Allan Nightingale is looking forward to this year’s event.

Mullets have been growing, rocker cars being built, and cars and bikes being polished in preparation for Muscle in the Brook.

There will be more room for the vehicle displays, more food and more for kids to do according to organiser Allan Nightingale.

“I have tried to add different things for the kids to engage with,” he said.

“Like with the rocker cover racetrack, it’s like a drag strip for rocket cover cars, you take the rocker covers off an old engine and give it new life, put some wheels on it and send it down the track.”

There are still a few weeks to get entries sorted for this new competition that will run in heats throughout the day, cars must use a rocker cover from any engine as the base, not weigh more than 2.5kg and wheels cannot be more than 12cm in diameter.

Another new addition is the Hot Wheels area, where for a small donation kids get a car to keep that they can play with on tracks that will be set up to help keep them entertained.

The mullet competition will make a triumphant return, so too will the on stage entertainment, markets and food vans.

An auction with various donated items, including a replica Larry Perkins Castrol Commodore bonnet, will also take place on the day.

All proceeds from entry, auction, raffle, Hot Wheels and Lions barbecue sales will again be going to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Muscle in the Brook will be on Saturday, August 31, at Lake Liddell Recreation Area from 10am to 6pm. Entry is $10 per car.
