After its successful return in 2024 – which followed a four-year hiatus – the Cessnock Show will be back on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February, 2025.
The show is celebrating its 101st anniversary this year, with some exciting new events and plenty of old favourites on the program.
A Pit Horse Derby, pig races and Swordcraft (medieval roleplay) demonstrations are among the new attractions, along with handicrafts and Lego in the pavilion.
Popular events such as the horse competitions, the Fizzics science show, freestyle motocross displays, post-splitting demonstrations and the demolition derby will return, along with magic shows, farm animals, a fancy pigeon display, demonstrations by the Cessnock VRA, a poultry competition, sideshow alley, showbags and a great selection of rides.
The show has also reintroduced live music to its program, with Anthony Lee performing on Friday from 3pm, father-daughter duo Good Genes on Friday at 6pm, and Viper Creek Band frontman Damien Baguley on Saturday from 2.45pm.
The grand opening will take place at 3pm Saturday, which will include the sashing of the Cessnock Show Young Woman of the Year, followed by an Australian Stockhorse flag ride.
The show will wrap up with a fireworks display at 9pm Saturday.
Tickets are $25 family (2 adults and 2 kids), $10 adults, $5 kids aged 12-17 and pensioners, with free entry for kids under 12. Parking is available via the Mount View Road entry for $2 per car. (Horse competitors and foot traffic only through Sports Avenue).
