Mitchell Ryan had a weekend to remember when Singleton’s Howe Park Tennis Club held their club championships.
The young ace claimed both he senior’s singles and doubles titles for 2020.
Ryan, 21, defeated Charles Botes in the A-Grade final on Saturday before joining forces with fellow club coach Cameron Phillips to take out the doubles crown.
“This was a really good opportunity for us all to just play socially and play against people with different skill levels and people of different ages can get in and have a go,” participant Lachlan Evans explained.
“Older people can verse the younger kids and still have a good match and have fun.
“COVID actually drew me to tennis as I was playing soccer when this all started and I didn’t really feel safe being so close to all of the other players.
MEANWHILE Drew Parnell claimed the junior singles crown after finishing runner up last season.
“It was successful overall, there were a couple of upsets but I think that was just from the fatigue of playing singles in the morning and doubles straight after,” club manager Craig Miles explained.
