Scone has slowly but surely become a sea of purple on Fridays, a show of support for the Rotary campaign against family and domestic violence in the community.
President of the Rotary Club of Scone, Lindy Hunt, shared that later this month they are inviting everyone to participate in another high visibility action.
“On Wednesday the 26th of November we’re asking people from across Scone and the district to join us to be together and have a coordinated walk down the street from the Neighbourhood Centre,” she said.
“Bringing the community together is the ultimate aim but also raising people’s awareness that we’re not alone in this, that we’re all together and we can all make a difference.”
Scone has joined in with the national Rotary campaign to say no to domestic and family violence, with a number of activities taking place throughout November.
Conversations have already started when a number of individuals and businesses were in purple Rotary shirts on the first Friday in November, and there is still time to get yours for the rest of the month.
The Thoroughbred Hotel in Scone are supporting the campaign by giving a free coffee to anyone who comes in on a Friday during November wearing their purple Rotary shirt.
To join in with the community walk, meet at Scone Neighbourhood Centre at 5.30pm on Wednesday November 26, the walk will make its way down Kelly Street, before returning to the Centre for a barbecue courtesy of JBS and a brief presentation from a guest speaker.
