Singleton’s 24.17 (161) to 1.0 (6) men’s reserve grade defeat to Lake Macquarie was irrelevant on Saturday.
Instead the spotlight was cast on senior club president Dylan Hixon who received a long list of well wishes before and after the clash which resulted in his 100th club game.
“As a footballer it’s brilliant,” Hixon’s former coach Stephan Nester explained.
“As a footballer to introduce him to the club, to see him embrace it and now leading the club is amazing. “Personally, it’s more about our friendship that has developed in our time at the club and his journey to 100 games. “I’m extremely proud of him and his journey.”
The Singleton Roosters’ senior side will travel to the Adelaide Street Oval this week to play Killarney Vale while the reserve grade line-up will travel to Adcock Park to play Gosford in the bottom of the table clash.
