Singleton Civic Centre is soon set to exhibit the fruits of our youngest community members’ creativity when it hosts the Singleton Inaugural Early Childhood Art Exhibition.
The exhibition started at Singleton Heights Pre School where educator Julie-Ann’s student, Archie, worked on a garden over a six-week period.
“He kept adding things to it, wonderful details like bird baths and solar panels and his imagination was alive,” Julie-Ann said.
With other children creating amazing things as well, Julie-Ann suggested to pre-school director Neisha Dean that they hold an art exhibition.
“I was thinking we would just have one at the pre-school, but Neisha suggested we go bigger and invite other early childhood services and showcase the learning and creativity that happens every day,” Julie-Ann said.
While at first daunting, Julie-Ann shared that the connections made with other services and their enthusiasm has been wonderful.
Arts Upper Hunter provided a grant to help with the costs of the exhibition that will include students’ paintings, drawings, mixed media, 3D pieces, woodwork creations, clay models and group art pieces.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Thursday, November 7, from 10:30am to 4:30pm and Friday, November 8, from 10:30am to 2pm.
