Former King Street Public School Singleton student, Liz Burton, will host a special screening of A Lion Returns at Majestic Cinema this month, a film she proudly produced and a screening she will attend.
The screening will be on Saturday, November 21, at 4pm, and Liz will take questions following the special event.
Her parents, Jan and Tony Farmer, are both well known residents of Singleton and Liz is a frequent visitor to the area.
This time she is the town’s special guest and she is looking forward to showcasing her work.
A Lion Returns is an original story about a young man Jamal (Tyler De Nawi) returning home from the conflict in Syria. After experiencing the horrors of the battlefield in the Middle East and with a burgeoning indignation towards the west, Jamal must now face the consequences of his actions and abandoning his family. Wanting to see his dying mother, he first has to deal with his strong minded brother, his wife and most importantly his unforgiving father. Why has Jamalreally come back? Is this a plan of his own or is he a confused pawn in a bigger global picture?
Liz says she is really proud of the film that has earned positive reviews from the likes of Margaret Pomeraz and David Stratton.
Liz gives praise to her fantastic drama teacher for her career success.
“I initially wanted to be an actor but after being exposed to working behind the scenes in stage management and production management my direction changed,” Liz said.
She intends to bring a host of friends from Newcastle to be in the screening audience and is looking forward to catching up with Singleton viewers.
