Well, it’s not really just a fete.
The ‘fete’ has become a country fair, set to be held on the St Catherine’s Catholic College Oval on October 13 from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.
“My youngest daughter started Kindergarten during covid and we didn’t really get the chance to meet the other families in the community,” P&F treasurer Heidi Tanzer told The Hunter River Times.
“We haven’t had a fete at the school in over 10 years as well, so I thought that the fete would be a great way to get some community spirit back after covid.”
The idea caught traction within the P&F and grew exponentially forming the Country Fair Sub-Committee.
“We’ve been inundated with keen people that wanted us to help put this Fete together and everyone has done their bit to make it come ahead, it’s not just a one man show, it’s taken the group of us.”
With gold coin entry, there’ll be something for everyone at the St Catherine’s Country Fair across the oval.
The Empire Machinery Ring Arena will hold their dog jumping display and competition, whip cracking display, dog and cat competitions, family sheep round-up competition and family sibling carrying.
The Lancaster Motor Group Small Stage will host the Singleton Town Band accompanied by the St Catherine’s primary and senior school band while the Complete Parts Main Stage will hold the Welcome Prayer and Opening of the Country Fair, as well as the Fair’s auction, chocolate wheel, sausage eating competition, Taekwondo display, Hunter Urban Dance Group, St Catherine’s Puwampi Unti Kunarr Dance Group and soloists from the College’s Music department.
But that’s not all, with the Pirtek Singleton Petting Zoo, MJR Excavations Side Show Alley, the Bower’s Heavy Haulage Grand Parade and fireworks display to end the night, sponsored by Glencore Ravensworth Operations.
“It’ll be a very interactive night and a great night out for the family, there really will be lots to see and do,” Heidi said.
For those interested MJR Side Show Alley Unlimited Ride Bands are available for presale at $25 but will also be available on the night for $30.
St Catherine’s families are also able to enter competitions via the QKR app, while others can make their entries on the night or via the office.
All proceeds will help the P&F to upgrade outdoor seating and play equipment at the school.
St Catherine’s would also like to thank their other businesses and people including Rotary Club Singleton, Roberts Meats, Bailey Property and Livestock, Kirkwood Produce and the St Catherine’s Agriculture Department particularly Jo Towers for their help.
