Swimmers Shine at State Competition

Hannah Coleman-Byrnes and Shane Kannar represented Singleton Amateur Swimming Club at the NSW Country Short Course Championships.

Singleton Amateur Swimming Club is celebrating the recent success of two of their members Shane Kannar and Hannah Coleman-Byrnes. 

Both swimmers qualified for the NSW Country Short Course Championships held last weekend at the Sydney Acquatic Center, Olympic Park in Sydney. 

Shane has returned to competitive swimming after representing Singleton in the National Swimming Championships as a teenager and is a muched loved member of the Club.

Shane supports the younger members passing on training advice and moral support.

 Shane competed in the 17year and over 100m and 50m breaststroke hitting a personal best time for both, breaking his Nationals time as a teenager. 

Hannah has had a busy month placing 2nd in the 13 year girl 100m butterfly at the Coast and Valley Swimming Association Short Course Championships in Woy Woy being invited by Swimming NSW to attend two high performance swimming clinics and competed in the 13-14 year old girls 50m and 100m butterfly in Sydney, hitting a personal best in the 50m butterfly. 

Hannah is currently ranked 30th in NSW 13 year-old girl 100m short course butterfly. 

Both Shane and Hannah train under Singleton Gym and Swim squad program Coach Jane Robey. 

SASC is now getting ready for the new swim season starting in October.

President Lea Scouler said the club is hoping to see a few more adult competitors follow in Shane’s footsteps and more kids to join in the fun swimming program.

Everyone is welcome to join. Registrations open in September.
