Last week was not all doom and gloom for the Singleton Greyhounds’ Ladies League Tag side.
Teenager Jules Kirkpatrick was crowned as the 2022 Group 21 Ladies League Tag player of the year on Wednesday, August 31.
“Winning the player of the year award was special to me as I love pushing myself to the max and being rewarded with that award felt awesome,” Kirkpatrick told The Hunter River Times.
Though the Singleton Greyhounds were unable to build on their early lead on grand final day they will always look back on their finals wins over Aberdeen (16-0) and Merriwa (22-12) with joy.
“Although we didn’t get the result we wanted the girls, coaches and club are still very proud,” she added.
“We are only a young team so we will be back stronger next year.”
Earlier this year Kirkpatrick, who also played for the Newcastle Knights, inspired the NSW under-19 side to an origin victory.
