Tragic news this morning with police confirming Annalyse Blyton has passed away in hospital overnight.
Emergency services were called to a home on Broughton Street last Thursday at about 11:30am and found the 17-year-old suffering critical injuries to her head, neck and body.
She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being airlifted to hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
Police were notified yesterday that Annalyse had died.
The 10-year-old dog – described as a large dog of mixed breed – lived at the home. Hunter Valley Police District officers destroyed the dog with the consent of the owner.
