Two major road incidents near Singleton

Emergency services were responded to reports of a single vehicle accident on the corner of Bridgman Road and Blaxland Avenue at Singleton Heights this morning.

Members from the Singleton Fire and Rescue Station and Hunter Valley Police arrived at 2:10am and found a single vehicle had left the road and came to rest on a centre island.

“Firefighters got to work with absorption products to deal with fluids that were leaking on to the road way while police carried out traffic control,” Singleton firefighter Andrew Porters explained.

“Please remember to slow down to a safe speed while passing stationary emergency and recovery vehicles displaying flashing lights.”

MEANWHILE a motorcyclist has died following a crash near Broke yesterday.

About 10.50am (Saturday 5 September 2020), emergency services were called to Great North Road, Wollombi, following reports a motorcyclist and KIA sedan collided.

The rider, a 52 -year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however he died at the scene.

The driver, a 74-year-old man was taken to Cessnock Hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the cause of the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
