The Singleton Bulls are building momentum in the Hunter Rugby Women’s Summer Sevens competition as they prepare to chase their first win in Round three.

The Bulls opened their campaign at Dangar Park against the experienced Hamilton Hawks. Facing a side fresh off multiple competitions, the Bulls matched it physically and held their own throughout the first half before Hamilton’s experience shone through, finishing 44–5 winners.

In their second match, the Bulls took on Cooks Hill, who burst out to a 25–0 lead. Singleton showed resilience to halt the early momentum and gained valuable possession but were unable to convert pressure into points.

Round two saw the action move to Marcellin Park, where the Bulls faced Newcastle University White and Hamilton once again.

In a thrilling back-and-forth clash, the Bulls came agonisingly close to securing their first victory, finishing with a 17–17 draw. Emma Jupp crossed for two tries and added a conversion in a standout performance.

Taking on Hamilton for the second time in as many weeks, the Bulls knew a more expansive style was needed. With sharp ball movement and strong support play, the match went try-for-try, highlighted by a runaway effort from Emjay Walter straight from the kickoff. Despite the determination, Hamilton edged ahead late to claim a 17–12 win.

The team now head to University of Newcastle for Round 3, with matches kicking off at 7:04pm and 7:40pm.

With confidence growing and combinations building, the first win is well within reach.
