A pocket watch dating back to the 1760s has found its way back to Singleton, the town that became home to Isaac Easterbrook in 1862.

Although previously a miller, Isaac became a baker in Singleton whose bakery was initially in John Street and from April 1864, in Bishopgate Street opposite the Christian Israelite chapel.

It was his association with the Christian Israelite Church that brought Isaac to Singleton so when the current owner, Isaac’s great, great grandson, Reg Barrett, was deciding the future of this precious family heirloom, he determined the correct home was at Singleton Historical Museum.

Take time to admire the intricate craftsmanship of the pocket watch dating back to the 1760s.

In the audience at last week’s presentation were members of the Christian Israelite Church who were delighted to accept the invitation to hear Reg speak.

The watch is part of the significant exhibition at Singleton Museum located in Burdekin Park, open 10am to 1pm Tuesdays and from midday to 4pm Saturday and Sunday and public holidays.
