In accordance with dam safety protocols, WaterNSW has conducted precautionary assessments at its dams following this morning’s seismic activity in the Hunter Valley.

The 4.6 magnitude quake struck at 2.55am on Wednesday near Singleton in the NSW Hunter Valley about 200km north of Sydney, Geoscience Australia seismologists said.

The inspections at Glennies Creek and Lostock dams confirmed no safety risk resulting from the event.
WaterNSW dams are designed to withstand major seismic events, and the most extreme weather conditions.

WaterNSW dam safety teams and operators remain vigilant for aftershocks.
