The Scone Equine Hospital marked a huge milestone in its 70-year history with the official opening of its new purpose-built facility on Bunnan Road in the country’s horse capital.
Nationally and internationally renowned, the Hospital provides advanced expertise in equine surgery, medicine, diagnostic imaging, reproduction and neonatal care.
Director and Registered Specialist in Equine Surgery Dr Angus Adkins said the care is world class.
“Your horses deserve nothing less, and they deserve the best service we can provide, with the amazing people who staff this hospital. They are second to none.”
During the busy breeding season, the hospital employs more than 120 staff, including specialists, veterinarians, experienced nurses and veterinary technicians.
The completion of the project in March last year realised a vision more than two decades in the making – to bring all of Scone Equine Hospital’s services under one roof.
CEO Mr Scott Shann described the development as a pivotal milestone for both the practice and the Upper Hunter.
“The strength of the region as the heart of Australia’s thoroughbred industry, coupled with Racing NSW’s investment at Scone Racecourse, made this the ideal home for a facility of this calibre. As the horse population grows, so too does the need for advanced veterinary care,” he said.
The official opening at the end of August was officiated by Upper Hunter MP Dave Layzell, and drew clients, community members, and industry leaders from across the region and beyond.
