Unions NSW Pilliga Campaign Committee and Lock The Gate will be stopping in the Upper Hunter as they make their way to Newcastle bringing attention to the damage the Queensland Hunter Gas Pipeline will cause.

The convoy will start in Narabri, then move on to Gunnedah as they bring attention to the destruction of Gomeroi lands in the Pilliga Forest that will be caused by the project.

Their third stop will be in Scone on Saturday, October 12, when they will be set up at the Royal Hotel and Kelly Street from 6pm.

Then on Sunday October 13 they will stop at Townhead Park in Singleton from 10am for a roadside rally before making their way through to Newcastle for the large rally.

Gomeroi Native Title applicants voted overwhelmingly to reject coal seam gas. In 2022 Santos launched hostile court action, seeking to override Gomeroi rights, an appeal by Gomeroi has held up these plans, but Santos are pushing ahead, with an outcome expected by March 2025

Santos acquired the rights to the Hunter gas pipeline in 2022, despite affected landholder concerns of subsidence and erosion, the 833klm pipeline already has planning approval to be installed from southern Queensland through to the Newcastle Port.
