A conversation can truly change a life and that is exactly what The Men’s Table is doing. Bringing men together across Australia to chat, or simply to listen to their fellow men about what they might be going through, the good and the bad.
The Men’s Table Entree is an introduction to The Men’s Table through open sharing over a relaxed and conversational meal.
The Entree event is a chance to meet other men, and to learn about how a Table works which will you decide whether you’d like to be part of a local Men’s Table.
It will be hosted by a couple of long standing members of other Men’s Tables, sharing their experiences from their Tables, and responding to your questions, concerns and ideas.
The Scone Literary Festival is back for 2025 and from Thursday March 6 to Sunday March 9 there will be plenty for visitors to do.
This year’s theme is ‘Sustainability – me, we, us, The Planet’.
On March 6, Georgie Collinson will share her insights about anxiety, joining a Wellbeing Literacy event to be held in partnership with Where There’s A Will Upper Hunter.
She will also be joined by Marcelle Moore and Jen Cowley.
On March 7, there will be opportunities for all ages, including a Primary Writer’s Workshop with Jo Riccioni, an Emerging Writer’s Workshop with Suzanne Leal, a Marketing and LinkedIn Workshop with Lucy Bingle and Louisa Bragg, Jeremy Lachlan visiting local schools and Ryan Butta chatting at the Merriwa CWA lunch.
Geraldine Doogue will open the festival on Saturday, March 8, also International Women’s Day, at the Scone Grammar School Auditorium.
There will also be some amazing panels on March 8 with Tim Ayliffe, Chris Hammer, Michael Burge and Catherine du Peloux le Menage chatting crime, Nardi Simpson discussing her new book The Belburd and Merri May Gill, Tully O’Regan and Vanessa Lam discussing visual story telling.

After a wonderful return last year, The Cessnock Show is ready to entertain when it comes to Cessnock Showground on February 21 and 22.
The show’s hard-working committee have been working tirelessly to put everything together, with something for everyone.
Events include two days of horse events, poultry section, freestyle motorbikes, woodchopping, the Showman’s Guild with rides and stalls and Demolition Derby on Saturday before the fireworks.
Don’t miss the pig races and the Pit Horse Derby and the excitement of the Gravity FMX.
Entertainment on Saturday night includes performances by lead vocalist and songwriter for Golden Guitar nominated group, The Viper Creek Band. Damien Baguley will be on the main stage from 5:30pm and promises to be a performance not to be missed.
Both gates in Mt View Road and Sports Avenue will be open with sideshow alley and entertainment beginning at 2pm on February 23 and 10am on February 24. The show closes around 10pm both nights.
The annual Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival is all about rock n roll, classic cars, hot rods, fashion, music, dancing and everything good about the 50s and 60s.
The weekend event is on March 28 to 30 at various venues throughout Kurri Kurri. The Nostalgia Festival usually attracts large crowds of people from all over Australia to join in the atmosphere as the town centre is transformed into all the glory of a bygone era.
There’s a classic car and hot rod ‘Show and Shine’, a huge range of quality retro market stalls and food vans, lots of free entertainment, rock n roll dance demonstrations, main stage performances, feature bands, fashion parades, best dressed competitions, side show alley and much more.

The Penguin Community Garden invites volunteers to join in various gardening activities each weekend.
No experience is required, as there are always people on hand to help guide newcomers and children are welcome.
