Some people think nothing of having a haircut every couple of months, but not Elsie Kennedy.
The 14-year-old will be having around 90 centimetres of hair cut in her first significant haircut and she will be donating it to be made into wigs for kids with cancer.
“I’m cutting my hair and donating it to Wigs4Kids, so kids with cancer can feel special, and I’m also raising money for the families of those kids to help with financial support,” Elsie told The Hunter River Times.
“I’ve been wanting to get my hair cut for a little while and I thought I would put it to good use and help out the kids and their families.”
In the coming weeks details about the big cut will be finalised, with the plan being to do it at an assembly at Scone Grammar School.
Currently measuring 120 to 130 centimetres, it comes as no surprise that Elsies mum Mandy is a bit nervus about the impending change.
“We’ve had 14 years now that I help her do her hair every day because she can plat it, but she can’t plat it and do it as neat and tight as I can,” she said.
“I think I would be more upset about it if she wasn’t doing something like this, because at least a positive coming out of it that some other little kiddies are going to get some hair to make them feel more confident, and hopefully she can raise bit of money to help with all their families financial burdens.”
