Caller asked to please come forward

There are three little kids whose father died in Singleton and they and their mother deserve to know what happened.

Just after 5:30am on Saturday, September 29, 2018, emergency services were called to Carrington Street at Glenridding after a man’s body was located on the side of the road.

The man was later identified as New Zealand firefighter Ian Pullen, aged 43, who had come to the Hunter region to assist with bushfire efforts.

Police thank those community members who have come forward and provided information but they do believe there are others yet to come forward.

“We encourage them to do so, and I ask that those who do know something to think of these three little children who no longer have their dad, it is the right thing to do to come forward,” Detective Inspector Matt Zimmer told The Hunter River Times this week.

In particular police would like to speak to an anonymous caller who indicated that the vehicle involved in Mr Pullen’s death returned to the scene where the occupants got out of the car and approached Mr Pullen while he was still alive.

Detectives from Hunter Valley Police District formed Strike Force Awabakil to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Pullen’s death.

Investigators believe Mr Pullen was struck by a vehicle between 4am and 5.30am that day.

A $350,000 reward remains on offer for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Mr Pullen’s death.

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Awabakil investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report crime via NSW Police social media pages.
