Pickers ready for season opener

The Maitland Pickers will kick off their Newcastle Rugby League campaign this Saturday.

After a successful two years under former Greta Branxton Colts premiership coach Matt Lantry, who steered them to an NSW Cup title in 2020 and a Newcastle RL minor premiership in 2021, the Pickers will commence their season against the Central Newcastle Butcher Boys this Sunday at St John Oval.

The Pickers, who have added former Kurri Kurri Bulldog Reid Alchin to a list that already features Singleton’s Jimmy Bradley and Jackson Shade, will then play their first home match against Lantry’s former club Western Suburbs Rosellas on Saturday, April 2.
