Singleton Artists Continue to Celebrate

A long list of artists of all ages were recognised at the 2022 Yancoal Singleton Art Prize on Friday evening.

Sydney artist David Lake’s “Moonlight” was the overall winning piece of the event which has been organised by the Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter.

“I was drawn to this work because for me it felt like an exhale, full of feeling and through appreciation of its beauty and simplicity of colour,” Singleton Art Prize judge Amy Dynan told The Hunter River Times.

Singleton based artist Holly Whitelaw was also recognised as the winner of the Yancoal Still Life Prize for her piece “Still Living”.

Arguably the loudest applause came moments after Member for the Upper Hunter Dave Layzell confirmed Singleton Council will benefit from $448,600 in funding from the NSW Government’s Creative Capital program.
