Large crowd expected for Aberdeen clash

BY ALEX TIGANI

The first place Scone Thoroughbreds will playoff against the second place Denman Devils this Saturday.

The following day the Greta Branxton Colts will play host to the Muswellbrook Rams.

Regardless of the results, both sets of teams will then playoff again the following week to kick off the first Group 21 finals series to be played since 2019.

Therefore one could argue that this Sunday’s remaining match will be the most exciting.

The fifth place Aberdeen Tigers will playoff against the Singleton Greyhounds in the battle for the wooden spoon.

The Tigers stood tall with a convincing 42-22 win over the Greyhounds in Round 3 before Gary Gardner and Mark Newman celebrated their first win of the season last month, a tight 24-16 victory in hard fought conditions.

A large crowd is expected to Jefferson Park for the club’s Old Boys Day while current Tigers Harry Douglas, Shane Hassellman, Adam Swadling and Trent Walker will enter in fine form after their narrow 22-12 defeat to Denman on Sunday.
